2nd Annual Dutch Oven Cook-Off and Demonstration Friends of Wilson Island will be sponsoring a Dutch Oven Cook-off and Demonstration on Saturday, September 26,2008 at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.  The location will be at Wilson Island State Recreation Area.  Cooking stations will be available at 2:00 PM.  The Dutch Oven Demonstration will begin at 3:00 PM.  Judging of the competition dishes will start at 4:00 PM.  Judging is handled by public voting.  Cook-off classes will be Adult class and Youth class.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd in each class.  Dutch Oven Cook-off rules are below. Dutch Oven Cook-off Rules  1.   The Friends Group and Wilson Island will provide tables and fire rings.   2.   Depending on the number of participants, fire rings and tables may be shared.   3.   Please bring and light your own charcoal.   4.   No propane or gasoline stoves or appliances allowed.   5.   An adult must accompany any contestant or team under the age of 18.   6.   For safety reasons, ingredients can not be pre cooked and must be combined, chopped, sliced, or diced on site and during the competition. This includes garnishing and marinating with the exception of canned foods or sourdough started.    7.   For safety reasons: NO INGREDIENTS PREPARED OR PROCESSED AT HOME ARE ALLOWED.   8.   Contestants need to provide a copy of the recipe used and include name, address, and phone number or email address of the entrant.   9. Good Fire Safety practices will be followed by all participants.   10. Good safe food handing procedures will be followed by all participants. Bring a cooler with ice if any of your ingredients need refrigeration.   11. Interaction with the public is encouraged. All participants shall have fun. Those who do not have fun may become part of the main course.     12. Questions the day of the competition will be answered by the referee, all decisions are final.   13.
